This Morning's Phillip Schofield, 59, was left starstruck by Schitt's Creek Dan Levy during Tuesday's This Morning,
The British presenter publicly came out as gay in February 2020 and spoke with Dan about how he thought the comedy series was 'one of the most sensitive places for LGBTQ+ people' as they discussed representation.
Canadian actor Dan was lauded by Phil about his character David Rose's relationship with on-screen husband Patrick in the hit comedy series, noting that it's in no way stereotypical.
Starstruck: On Tuesday, This Morning's Phillip Schofield was left starstruck by Dan Levy and praised Schitt's Creek for being 'one of the most sensitive places for LGBTQ+ people'
The TV host gushed: 'His relationship is Patrick is not stereotypical. It's been critically acclaimed by the LGBTQ+ community. Schitt's Creek is one of the most sensitive places on the planet.'
Dan said: 'Thank you so much for saying that, it's very sweet. I had an opportunity to write about my own experience in a way I had never seen on television.
'As a gay person we often find ourselves reduced or characatured or our corners are rounded so we can be more digestible for mass audiences.
'When someone hands you an opportunity like this and you have the freedom to tell these stories, it felt important to make sure that in the moments that were specific to that experience, that it be represented as authentically and as carefully and as thoughtfully as it possibly could.

Dan admitted: 'When we set out to make a show about people trapped in a small room together, we didn't know it would mirror people's lives a few years later.'
Holly Willoughby quizzed the actor about the show ending, pointing out: 'You could have kept going but you chose not to?'
Dan explained: 'I do think there's something to be said about quality over quantity. We're living in a time where there's so much quantity over quality.

Phil asked the star: 'Was there any moment after that were you thought ''have we made the wrong choice?'',' to which Dan was stoic.
He insisted: 'No. When we shot that last episode, I knew when were were filming it there was something really special in the air.
'I knew that last episode was going to be special. There was a solace and a closure in that. I never wanted to say goodbye to people, but it meant something and we're all still close.

Holly asked Dan about making his dad - actor Eugune Levy who also plays Dan's on-screen dad Johnny Rose - do silly things when writing Schitt's Creek scripts.
Dan explained: 'It's very rare that you're in a situation that you can write funny things for your father to do. My dad is particular about his hair, he doesn't even like the wind touching it.
'I wrote a scene where there's filthy water drip dripping on his hair. We pitched the idea to my dad, and to his defence he said yes.'
Talking about when he previously lived in London, Dan explained: 'I had a really intense heartbreak in my 20s and thought what better place to come than London, because I had seen Notting Hill. I had a great time here.
'Every Wednesday I would look forward to picking up a pizza and getting a fresh Heat magazine and taking it home. I knew nobody in the magazine, but by the end of my time here I was heavily invested in many British celebrities.'

Holly asked: 'One of your favourites was S Club 7?' to which Dan enthused: 'Yes. S Club was big where I grew up in canada.
'My sister got married a couple of weeks ago and there's a photo of us - we look like we're screaming - but we're singing S Slub.'
Phil and Holly then revealed that S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens had sent Dan a video message, and played it to him.
Rachel said: 'Hi Dan. Im such a massive fan of yours. It's so lovely to send you a message to say hi. Sending you loads of love and the biggest mwah.'
Dan gushed: 'That is the full circle moment i came here for. That's it. I can leave happy. Thank you for that surprise. This is my very first time on UK TV. I've watched so much of it, including the two of you.
